EX5 or Galaxy E5? Same cabin, same mats

Geely sells this SUV under two names depending on where you buy it: EX5 in Australia and most export markets, Galaxy E5 in China. The cabin floor is the same shape, which is why the mats are moulded once and listed under both names. If you searched for Galaxy E5 car mats and landed on an EX5 product, you are in the right place — nothing is being substituted.

What does genuinely change the fit is the steering side and the model year. Everything below is moulded for the 2024–2025 cars.

Right-hand drive matters more than people expect

A floor mat is not a symmetrical object. The driver's mat has to clear the accelerator and brake pedals, work around the throttle pivot, and leave the dead pedal usable. A left-hand-drive mat turned over does not solve this — the moulded contours end up on the wrong side, the mat sits proud near the pedals, and a mat that can shift around the pedal box is a real safety problem rather than a minor annoyance.

Both EX5 floor mat sets here are moulded specifically for right-hand drive. The boot liner is symmetrical, so that one is listed as fitting both left- and right-hand-drive cars.

What “three-piece” actually means

Three-piece means driver, front passenger, and a single moulded rear section that covers the whole second-row footwell in one piece — not two separate rear mats with a seam down the middle.

That seam is where dirt collects and where spills find their way through to the original carpet, so a one-piece rear is the more useful design in a family car. It also cannot slide out of position independently, which two separate rear mats will eventually do.

Bare tray or carpet top layer?

The EX5 set is listed in two versions, and the difference is what sits on top of the moulded tray.

The bare moulded set is the waterproof tray on its own. Raised edges, wipe-clean surface, hose it off when it gets bad. This is the one to get if the car regularly carries wet, sandy or muddy feet — tradies, dog owners, anyone who parks at the beach.

The carpet-topped set adds a wear-resistant carpet layer over the same tray. It looks and feels closer to the factory finish and takes the edge off road noise, and the carpet lifts out so you can still get to the waterproof tray underneath. This is the better choice for a car that spends most of its life on sealed roads and school runs.

Neither is a compromise on protection — the tray underneath is identical. You are choosing between easy hose-down and a more finished look.

The boot liner

The EX5 boot liner is a moulded tray with a litchi-grain finish in black, listed for 2024–2025 cars and fitting both steering sides.

Boot carpet is the single most expensive interior surface to put right at trade-in time, and it is the one that gets treated the worst: shopping that leaks, camping gear, plants, wet dog. A moulded liner with raised edges contains all of that instead of letting it soak in.

If you are only buying one thing and the car is used for anything beyond commuting, the boot liner is arguably the higher-value purchase of the two.
